The Padre Abreu Nursing home, located in the Quisqueya sector of La Romana, is an organisation founded by the Reverend Father Abreu of the Santa Rosa de Lima parish in 1982. They have been providing support to those who have no one to help them in the final stage of their lives for 42 years. A total of 48 people reside today in the centre.
The home provides accommodation, food and medicine, as well as recreational activities and psychology sessions, continuous care and above all emotional and human support.
The Consejo Nacional de la Persona Envejeciente (National Council for the Elderly) (Conape) supervises the institution, and the administration is the responsibility of the Congregación de las Hermanas de la Caridad Cardenal Sancha (Sisters of Charity of Cardinal Sancha Congregation), which is supported by the state, but mainly by contributions from the community and some companies.
With this initiative, we will be able to achieve better living conditions for the residents.
